While in Paris, van Gogh made many drawings. Here is one from 1887, "La Bataille Fenetre." This drawing, and several others, were executed on bluish paper. The blue has faded. Today, we see a straw-colored paper, typical of aged cellulose. The van Gogh Museum has an unfaded sheet of blue paper. I measured this paper and a number of locations on several drawings. I also color managed scanned photographs. By making a custom Photoshop Curves, I was able to recolor the paper from straw back to blue. I assumed that his drawing materials were opaque; thus, I didn't change their color.
