Another friction problem

Bob bets Jane that he can guess her mass and he asks her to sit on the box that he is pushing. How does he guess her mass?

He uses physics to figure it out.

Bob knows that the mass of the box is 80 kg, and he knows that the force of friction is

force of friction = 0.1 * (force of box on floor)

Bob pushes the box to the right with a force F = 450 N and notes that his speed increases from 2 m/s to 4 m/s as he moves a distance 3 m.

  1. What is the acceleration of the box?
  2. What is Jane's mass?
