A 1D kinematics problem

  • You are star gazing on the roof of a tall building when you see Trinity jump out of a window of a nearby building and fall. You then see Neo diving down to rescue her. Since you are an observant 311 student you note that Neo dives at constant acceleration past 5 floors (20 m) of the building in 0.87 sec to catch her and at that point he has a downwards velocity of 35.6 m/s.
    1. What was Neo's acceleration during the dive?
    2. What was his initial speed?
