          Address________________________________________________________________

2.  Data Submitted:    December 4, 1997

3.  If student, name of faculty sponsor:    Jeff Pelz

4.  Project Title:     Correlation Between Color Reproduction Preferences nd Eye Movements

5.  Description of criteria and subject selection procedure, inclueing number, source, etc

18 subjects, mix in age, gender, student/faculty, friends.  Subjects must will not have color
deficiencies, no glasses, contacts are ok.

6.  If informed consent is to be obtained(type II, III, IV), attach completed, unsigned copy of the
form to be given to subjects and/or parnets or guradians.  (To avoid possible delay,
investigator is urged to submit informed consent form unless confident the project will be
classified as Type I).  The consent form is the one found in Appendix A.

7.  Expected benefits to subject or contributions to new knowledge, if any.  (If an abstract of the
proposed research has been prepared, and if attched to this form, that may suffice)
The proposal for the research was attached to this form

8.  Summary description of types of existing data to be used in this project, if any, including whether
they were originally collected primarily for research purposes.
There is no existing data on this topic.  There is data on the equipment, ASL eye tracking system
            included.

9.  Variables involving direct participation of subjects.  Indicate treatment procedures and nature of the
data to be collected; attach copy of test, questionaire, interview protocol, etc, or decription thereof.
Participants will be asked to view pairs of images while wearing the eye tracker unit.  They will
be asked to judge the color reproduction quality and pick their preferred print.  This will be repeated
            for 36 pairs of images.

10.  Time required of each subject and whether it will involve class time or out-of-class time.
Out-of -class time, voluntary time will be required of each subject.

11.  Describe any possible risks of injury to subjects, even only remote or negligible in their effecrs, and
taken to minimize these risks and/or reduce injury.
The headband may become uncomfortable with prolonged use.  The IR illuminator used to
illuminate the pupil/eye is at a level that, at its maximum setting, is 1/10 the level when exposed
to normal daylight.  The setting used in this experiment will be closer to 1/100 the level of daylight
