Two Processing Methods

• Simpler Method

  • Computes difference of two color channels after scaling the image “contrast”
  • Need to find scale factor that makes “parchment” and “overwriting” subtract to same gray value

• More Sophisticated Calculation

  • Find combinations of the three images (R,G,B) that estimate the three classes of object.
    • “Parchment”
    • “Overwriting”
    • “Underwriting”
  • Same process used to “classify” images in environmental remote sensing
