Help us determine the IFE 2014 project!
Each year the incoming freshmen are tasked to work together as a team to design and build a fully functional imaging system from scratch. In 2012-2013 they built a multi-camera array for security applications. In 2011-2012 they built a 3-D head scanner for medical applications. In the inaugural year year they made a device to capture interactive digital images called Polynomial Texture Maps. It's time to start thinking about the next project.
That's where you come in.
We'd like to hear as many suggestions as possible for the kind of system we should challenge next fall's incoming freshmen to build.
Finding the right one is not as easy as you might think. The perfect system would:
It's entirely possible that the system we ultimately choose may not meet all of these criteria, but ideally it would meet most of them. So please give it some thought (all of you - students included!) and pass along any ideas that you come up with as soon as possible. During the summer we'll have a committee review all of the suggestions and come up with one project that the students will start working on when they show up in September.
Please send suggestions to Joe Pow at pow @ cis.rit.edu (remove spaces)
