Project Conference
We had a fantastic conference September 21 and 22. Approximately 150 enthusiastic museum imaging practitioners, conservation specialists, representatives from camera manufacturers and others attended our two day conference. People came to RIT from museums, libraries, archives and universities. Attendees came to hear about the project, to enjoy invited talks from experts in the field and to network. Some 45 stayed for the third, optional day featuring the Image Permanence Institute.

Our first night reception at the Eastman House International Museum of Photography was a great success. We had run of the photography museum and the restored house. The museum featured a brand new exhibit on the life of George Eastman and a very interesting exhibit from the permanent camera collection. Some continued the evening by attending Roy Berns' late night gig at the Little Theater. Roy plays hot guitar as leader of the "gypsy jazz" trio, Lumière.

The second day featured lunch in the Color Science Building courtyard. Following lunch the meeting moved on to an open house at the Munsell Color Science Laboratory. Many state of the art and future imaging technologies as well as cutting edge research techniques were on display. The students, staff and faculty of the Lab were very pleased with the excitement and interest brought by the visitors.

Summary of the conference is here.
