brochure design
Project Details:
Due: November 13th, 1998

The project must be posted to your web site by midnight, and the URL must be posted to First Class by midnight as well. The printed piece must be postmarked by the 13th.

Include a short one paragraph rationale. The rationale should include your conceptualization, typefaces chosen and the reasoning behind you design solution.

For this assignment, you need to find a local organization that needs a poster designed, or to find a poorly designed poster and redesign it.

The brochure should be a maximum of 11"x8.5" in a horizontal format. You may work in black and white or color. When designing the piece, think about who the audience is, and what the nature of the message, and plan your design around those elements. Most brochures are used for telling or selling, so be sure that any imagery you use does not overwhelm your reader and detract from the message. Any imagery you use should be relevant to the message. Like the poster, a clever and relevant headline will help draw your readers in. Any other headlines should be relevant to the adjacent body copy. When working with type, keep your body text between 9 and 12pts, and your headlines to 14 to 16pts. Arrange your text and imagery in a logical and functional format so that your readers know where to begin and end. If you have a reader response form, be sure that it is easily accessible to tear off and send back.

Your project has no limitations on style or form. Color can be used in any method you choose. Consider using special paper stocks to help you create the look that would be a successful piece.
