ALUMNI PROFILE

David Fetzer - BS 2004

Dave Fetzer is a native of San Antonio, TX. As an undergraduate he did cutting edge research in the area of medical imaging - work that was formally presented at the 2004 meeting of the Center for Imaging Science Industrial Associates.

"I was studying and researching side-by-side with some of the most exciting imaging scientists in the word, working at the forefront of their respective fields. I personally received a unique perspective on the field as it applies to medical imaging, allowing me to understand the physical science side of this exciting and challenging area of study."

In addition to his studies and research, Dave was active in the Society of Imaging Science and Technology, the College of Science Student Advisory Board, and RIT's Brick City Singers.

He received several awards and merit-based scholarships including the Carlson Scholarship and the Hughes Scholarship. He was chosen as the student speaker for the 2004 College of Science commencement.

Dave is now a medical student at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He says, "my unique academic background in imaging science and my interest in clinical medical imaging allowed me to become a strong pre-medical candidate. I'm now in medical school with hopes of going into the field of radiology and someday applying my technical knowledge in imaging science to help further the field of diagnostic medical imaging."

Dave's advice for high school students: "My recommendation is that if a student is looking for a science that is integrated and broad-based, a field that influences many other fields both in and outside of science, and a degree program that is specialized and unique, then Imaging Science at RIT is where you need to be."
