Get a head start on your career by participating in a
cooperative education opportunity (co-op) during the summers of your sophomore and
junior years. Co-ops are great ways to build your resume with paid, professional work
experience while you are still in school. Typically, our students work in research and
development for private industries and government agencies.

After graduation, Imaging Science alumni work in many different fields, from engineering to education.
Some of the projects our graduates are involved in include:
- product development
- testing and training on computer to photo systems
- developing imaging systems for research experiments
- electronic imaging design and development
- developing chemicals used for space shuttle film processing
With imaging growing at an unprecedented rate in industry and government,
the demand for imaging scientists continues to grow rapidly. A recent poll
of graduates from RIT's imaging science program demonstrated the broad spectrum
of employment opportunities available to Imaging Scientists; alumni responding
to the poll were employed in a broad range of careers - from the Johnson Space
Center to Walt Disney Feature Animation. Other graduates go on to graduate
school at RIT or at other institutions.
Here are some positions and employers of our graduates:
Image Scientist: Eastman Kodak
Design and implement image quality algorithms for use in development and production of output
devices such as thermal printers.
Image Scientist: Lockheed Martin at Johnson Space Center
Image Science & Analysis Group. Imagery activities related to the International
Space Station Program. Development of imagery objectives for the Astronauts.
Software Engineer: Visionics Corporation
Develop enterprise software solutions built on internally developed technology
for facial recognition.
Research Scientist: Veridian-ERIM International
Research and algorithm development for hyperspectral imaging for remote
sensing applications and atmospheric correction for both the visible-near
infrared imagery as well as thermal.
Research Scientist: Eastman Kodak Inkjet Simulations and Technology
Color Image Engineer: Iris Graphics, Inc.
R&D of high-end inkjet printers as a member of the Color Lab
Software Engineer: Eastman Kodak
