The Center has developed and pilot tested a one-semester high school elective on the fundamentals of imaging science. This course is equivalent to the introductory course offered to imaging science majors at RIT. It requires 60 contact hours, and includes lectures and laboratory experiences. The content could be taught by a physics, math, or technology teacher, and training for teachers who want to offer the course is available through the Center. The textbook for the course is Seeing the Light by Falk, Brill, and Stork. Most of the required equipment is readily available in high school classes and labs. Prerequisite for the course is trigonometry. RIT faculty and staff scientists are available for guest lectures in person or online.
