The
Center for Imaging Science has an active, nationwide educational
outreach program. The goal of the program is to raise awareness of the
many opportunities available in the field of imaging science by working
cooperatively with educators to enhance the learning experience for
their students. Some of our offerings are available to educators
outside the Rochester area through the use of online learning

In-class demonstrations

Mini-courses
|
These
are typically week-long lesson modules that look in-depth at one
particular aspect of imaging, such as digital image processing. Click here to view one lecture from a recent online mini-course.

Laboratory visits
|
We
are anxious to have students visit us for hands-on laboratory
experiences in areas such as visual perception, remote sensing.

High school elective
|
A one-semester introductory course on the fundamentals of imaging science has been developed and successfully pilot tested.

Online lecture archive
|
A number of our talks and demonstrations are being recorded for online playback over the web.

Summer internships
|
A limited number of paid positions as research assistants are available for highly qualified high school students.

Teacher workshops
|
We can create a professional development experience tailored specifically for the needs of your faculty.

Grant proposal teaming
|
We've
successfully teamed with several school districts on proposals for
federal, state, and private funding to initiate new projects.

Insight Lab
|
The RIT Insight Lab will develop, test and deliver cutting edge science
education and outreach activities, and research the effectiveness of all
learners, in domains centered in Astronomy, Imaging Science, and all sciences in
general.
