Master of Science Color Science

Your background in physics, chemistry, mathematics, imaging science, computer science, psychology, physiology, textiles, graphic or fine art, or any discipline relating to the quantitative description of color makes you a candidate for the master of science degree in color.


Diverse curriculum. The curriculum was developed to give a broad exposure to the field of color and affords you the unique opportunity to specialize in an area appropriate for your background and interest. This is accomplished through the core courses, elective courses, and the research thesis or project. As a color scientist, you will address problems in the measurement, production, formulation, reproduction, and perception of color. The only graduate program in color science. This program is the only graduate program in the country devoted to color science. The program revolves around the activities of the Munsell Color Science Laboratory at CIS, the preeminent academic laboratory in the country devoted to color science. Click here to learn more.
