Talk Guidelines

The Oral Presentation is an oral summary of the significant accomplishments in your research project. Each talk should have the following material, although not necessarily slides with these titles: Overview, Background, Experimental Methods (especially if unique), Results (and significance), and Conclusions.

Please keep in mind the information from 1051-501 and the following points when preparing and presenting your talk.

  1. All presentations will be presented using one of the CIS Dell Laptops.

  2. All presentation must be in Microsoft Power Point format. Use the on screen presentation format.

  3. There is a due date for the presentation.

  4. Each presenter will be allotted 15 minutes, divided approximately 13 to 14 min for a presentation and 1 to 2 min for questions.

  5. Please make sure fonts and images are attached within the PPT file.

  6. Please understand that most computer projections systems can not display more than 1000 by 800 pixels. Why would you resize in Power Point a monster image to fit on a slide? This practice makes the presentation large and slow to load. Resize it in photoshop before importing it into Power Point!

Please Note...

  1. Presentation dates and times are fixed. Failure to be present for your allotted time will result in your inability to present and a failing grade for the presentation.

  2. The due date for your presentation to Joe Pow is firm. Plan ahead.

  3. Failure to adhere to the allotted time restrictions or presentation format will result in significant point reduction on your presentation grade.
