| The Course: | This is the third and final quarter of a three quarter course designed to develop skills in scientific research, technical report writing, and technical presentations. Students perform independent research under the supervision of a faculty supervisor.

| Assignments: | Research Presentation Abstract - A half page summary of your research. The abstract should concisely describe the salient hypotheses, procedures, results, and conclusions to be presented in your research poster and talk. |
| Research Poster - A poster describing your senior research project which will be presented at a special reception for the participants of the International Congress of Imaging Science (ICIS '06). The poster is a brief description of your research project. It should include an introduction, procedures, results, and conclusions.

| Oral Research Presentation - An oral, MS Power Point summary of the significant accomplishments in your research project. This presentation will be given as a College of Science Undergraduate Research Seminar. Each presenter will be allotted 15 - 20 minutes depending on your presentation date. You are encouraged to attend some of these presentations eary in the quarter to get ideas for your presentation.

| Examinations: | There are no formal exams in this course.

| Evaluation: | Your grade will be based on your performance on both your research and the assignments. Approximate weights are as follows: 5% Poster Abstract 15% Poster & Poster Presentation at ICIS '06 reception 20% Oral Presentation at a COS Undergraduate Research Seminar 60% Progress and effort on the research project and thesis. Assignment due dates are listed in the calendar and will be adhered to. Late assignments will not be accepted.
