The Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, NY is pleased to announce a fellowship for graduate study in the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science (CIS) beginning September 2009. The fellowship is supported by BAE Systems. The successful applicant will receive tuition, a stipend, and travel support for two years while studying for their Master of Science (MS) degree in Imaging Science.
The fellowship also includes a paid summer co-op assignment with BAE Systems’ Infrared Imaging Systems Division, located in Lexington, Massachusetts, an historic and high-tech suburb of Boston. As such, preference will be given to applicants from the greater Boston area (including southern New Hampshire), though we encourage all interested students to apply regardless of location. Candidates for the fellowship must be U.S. Citizens. The successful applicant will pursue a research topic inline with BAE Systems’ areas of interest and expertise within the RIT Center for Imaging Science such as earth remote sensing, visual perception, and infrared imaging systems and sensors.
To apply for the BAE Fellowship, applicants should email the Imaging Science Graduate Coordinator, indicating their interest in being considered for the fellowship (Dr. Anthony Vodacek, vodacek@cis.rit.edu), and submit a standard application for graduate study, including GRE scores. The application can be made through RIT’s on-line Graduate Admissions . Applicants should specify their academic experiences and qualifications for the fellowship in the written Personal Statement of Education Objectives portion of the standard application.
The Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science at RIT is a highly interdisciplinary university research and education center, dedicated to pushing the frontiers of imaging in all its forms and uses. Its graduates are the next generation of researchers who develop and deploy imaging systems to answer fundamental scientific questions, monitor and protect our environment, help keep our nation secure, and aid medical researchers in their quest to conquer disease.
